RECAP: Located in New Miami near Hamilton, Ohio, Mayhem on Morris is back for their third year with a completely different layout. The fun begins immediately after parking along the street where an unexpected, surprise attack takes place upon exiting your car courtesy of a hidden clown swinging a baseball bat!
This year’s haunt is themed “Phobia” and exploits your fears through a creepy crawl space, cramped pipe navigation, and confrontations with baby-faced girls blocking progression into a living doll room that’s highlighted by a "Bloody Mary" mirror surprise! Surviving their game of “Stab” leads to additional scares that arise from an intense chainsaw entrapment ruled by Leatherface; a green marshy swamp that gives rise to an unseen monster; a dark, claustrophobic tunnel; and a visit to the circus featuring the green-haired Skippy and his maze of bewilderment that consists of uncertain routes, dead ends, and multiple run-ins with killer clown, Terrifier! The evil horde of jesters continues to torment the search for correct way out, the eventual discovery of which permits the escape from Mayhem on Morris!
ANALYSIS: This attraction was a pleasant surprise in the sense that most yard haunts that we’ve visited consist of decorations and displays only, but that’s not the case here! An actual haunted trail has been impressively constructed featuring a number of differently themed areas and rooms that are staffed and complimented by various characters! The haunt takes between 7 and 10 minutes to get through depending on how long Leatherface, the baseball bat clown, Skippy, and Terrifier keep you trapped, and how successful you are at finding your way through the maze! Claustrophobia and Bloody Mary mirror are the best props. It’s very well built and cleverly designed from start to finish and changes from year to year. Admission is free, but donation jars are present to supplement annual improvements. Contributions are entirely voluntary.
Haunt has not been rated as it wouldn’t be fair to hold it to the standards of professional attractions, but it’s definitely enjoyable and you can bet OVH will be back! Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year! GREAT job!
