RECAP:  The experience begins inside an old barn that discovers an immediate attack by a bloody, rabbit-faced villain slamming an axe to the ground so hard it causes sparks to shoot up into the air!  The irate bunny announces our arrival shouting, “We have more meat coming!  FRESH meat!" which arouses the interest of his hog-headed accomplice and other masked cohorts within earshot that eagerly join the ambush coaxing, “Here piggy, piggy, piggies!" and "Here rabbits!" and even "Die piggies!"  Their bellowing temptations continue across uneven floors of the shed, the décor of which includes open caskets and a number of skeletons adorning the walls!  At one point, a girl is seen trapped inside the adjacent paneling pleading, "Get me out of here, please!"  but there's no way to help as assailants surround their captive slamming their weapons on barrels, floors, walls, and anything else that makes noise!  A hidden claustrophobic tunnel provides the only means of escape, but leads outside where a zipper-faced fiend wants to “end your life!”  Shrieks of "Dinner Time!", and "Get 'em boys!” chase the course into the cornfield for a succession of conflicts first with a goon armed with an oversized knife, then Jason Voorhees who appears out of the dark and gives pursuit from behind as the trail makes its way beyond shacks, through a camper, and into an eerie cemetery, amid creepy whistling that’s repeatedly heard throughout the corn along with warnings to “Get out!”  A nearly-abandoned schoolhouse is on the horizon where only a pair of delinquent students remains, one of whom wears her grade of “F” on her forehead.  The creepy duo cautions against an imminent run-in with a foe known only as “Pumpkin” as they impolitely show us the way out.

Scarecrows come to life, gunshots ring out, and more intimidating whistles point the way into Mabel’s for a bite to eat, then back out through a dark tunnel, and down a lengthy, isolated, tree-lined path that incites a surprising chainsaw chase-out of The Haunted Farm!

ANALYSIS:  Barn area is great while it lasts as actors are relentlessly intense and loud music ads to their intimidating scares!  Outside area is quiet for the most part, except for unnerving whistles heard repeatedly along the trek through the corn sending chills down your spine!  Bloody Rabbit at the beginning is by far the best actor of the night!  Pig-faced antagonist also deserves honorable mention as do the aforementioned whistler and chainsaw chasers.  Claustrophobia is appreciated as are the variety of noise-making weapons the cast uses to loudly emphasize their sentiments.  Field is in need of additional characters and more advanced scenes in order to elevate the score.  Lighting could be improved upon as well as several significant props lining the way out were difficult to see and could easily be missed.

The Farm is open September 29th through October 28th on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 to 11:30 PM.  Cost of admission is $20.  If you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to stop by and share some Halloween scares and Farm Fresh Fear with the friendly folks at The Haunted Farm!
