RECAP:  The attraction is entered through the façade of an oversized clown's mouth with the first stop being a snack shop that’s staffed by a villainous cook cranking on an egg beater, and wanting to bend folks over to extract some human frosting that’s needed on his oven-baking cake.  A hallway where barrels rock back and forth leads to a 2nd encounter with the demented chef, who's now looking for someone to “kiss the cook!”  Befuddled that no one takes him up on his kind offer, he sends us through a refrigerator and onto a gathering of caged guinea pigs and creatures, for an occult room visit with an eerie sorceress that’s armed with a large knife, and looking to cut off human heads, remove the fat by soaking them in a bucket of acid, and shrink them down to add to her shrunken head collection!  From there, it's onto a padded Asylum, where lights suddenly flicker revealing the surprise of the night – an unexpected entrapment with "Mopsie" who eagerly offers a taste from the dirty diaper she’s feasting on!  Release guides advancement into The Last Carnival's Arcade that’s highlighted by a crane game filled with dolls where all its claw can grab and pick up is a decapitated head!

Other scenes include a doll room occupied by a transgender mom showing off her baby collection that exits through a hidden passage; a dangerous conflict with a fiend shooting off sparks; and a foggy, wooden skid maze that finds its way into a pick-a-door chainsaw ensnarement where all the doors are labeled #2!  Discovery of the correct way out leads into the clutches of horn-honking clowns before departing into another door #2 confinement around an enormous spinning floor in the presence of another evil clown!  Locating the proper route takes the course across a colorful, tilting bridge and into “Jack's House,” a circus of fun and games inhabited by a tall, stilted clown and most notably "High Striker," a competition of sorts where competitors take part in a test of strength to see who can ring the bell.  Split, oversized building blocks provide a previously unseen escape that soon brings about a third door #2, chainsaw entanglement!  This time the proper hatch dumps into spider-infested woods where a female demon offers shots of snake oil while seeking to acquire souls, even trying to buy some if only intruders are willing to, “Sign the deal!”  Flames blast skyward over a large pentagram that’s displayed on an adjacent fence as she escorts the path back into the forest where it stumbles onto the campsite of cannibalistic hillbillies roasting an over-done body on their rotisserie grill, and demanding to know, “Who killed "Jumbo?" whose coffin rocks back and forth as we make our way past and trek deeper into the outdoors spotting a man-sized rabbit armed with a machete that’s looking to capture people for the human soup he’s making!

The theme from “Halloween” evokes a deadly skirmish with Michael Myers, the avoidance from which lands the excursion in a lethal, face-to-face confrontation with a horned antagonist warning, "It's time to die!" as he loudly revs up a motor that's been stripped from a nearby car, and goes on a vicious rampage slamming some sort of baseball bat-like weapon on neighboring barrels!  More door #2's, dark mazes, and dead ends are still to come; yielding to the sight of "Terrifier" sawing off the legs of his latest victim, then threatening witnesses with his sharp sawblade which empowers one final chainsaw chase-out of Backwoodz Oddities, The Last Carnival Haunted House!

Hell Night:  The Hell Night is presented as a more adult oriented performance featuring some vulgar language, a few adult toys, and partial nudity along the way, supplemented by minor costume changes and occasional mild touching like gearhead rubbing motor oil on our faces or holding us down on the ground.  Risqué scenes included the half-naked cook looking for someone to, “kiss the co*k,” and demoness lettin' 'em breathe!

ANALYSIS:  Backwoodz Oddities is one of the more cleverly built haunts you’ll ever experience with multiple pick-a-door dead ends, loops, chainsaws, an abundance of door #2's, and entrapments!  Course is admired for its ingenious design, which includes the use of secret passages like the building blocks, and freezer; the unique, award winning spinning floor; body dripping blood into a sink; fire; sparks; and several instances of being pinned in (kitchen, occult room, Jack’s House, asylum, pick-a-door, etc.).

Memorable characters include Mopsie, cook, trans mom, motor man, stilted clown, and all the chainsaw lunatics.  Hillbillies follow you through their scene and chainsaw killers make sure to misdirect guests through the wrong door #2's at first, thus prolonging their agony via incorrect exploration that circles them back to their original starting place, while providing some of the best scares the attraction has to offer in the process.  Queue line priest with devil horns does a good job preparing the crowd.

Cost of admission is only $15 making this one of the best bargains in the entire Ohio Valley!  Group size is limited to 5 to insure customers get the best show possible!  A more adult themed "Hell Night" is annually presented after midnight one Saturday during the season for $25.  The attraction's primary beneficiary is Southern Ohio Survivors, but they also donate to other local charities including animal shelters, schools, food banks, and a summer league baseball team.  OVH recommends lending your support by paying them a visit!  You'll be glad you did!

NOTE:  This attraction is rated based on their regular show.
