RECAP:  This year’s rendition tells the story of how Mayor Henry Joseph was in cahoots with a mad Doctor, and how they performed unheard of, abominable experiments on all sentenced prisoners!  Inside the Town Hall, panels drop, doors open on their own, and creatures reach out of walls, and down from the ceiling up above!  A smoldering body is seen emerging out of a crematorium, as an undertaker-like character asks, “Wanna take a bite?” and comments, “I know it’s good and Crispy!”  Departure through a contemptible jail discovers a merciless electrocution taking place, and the unexpected escape of an insanely screaming inmate charging wildly out of his confinement!

Progression into a darkened corridor provokes a hidden monster, and then it’s past a wooden, fenced walkway, where axe-carrying “Cletus” suddenly makes his presence known jumping out anxiously ready to slice and dice trespassers to bits exclaiming, “I’m ready to eat you for supper!”  He’s soon joined by a pig-faced brute named Bobo, who comes crashing through the door of an outhouse revving a chain saw as he beckons, “Here piggy, piggy!”  Their chase climaxes inside of an old, wooden cabin, where the hillbillies encourage consumption of a recent victim’s “intestines,” which bears a striking resemblance to another part of his anatomy that Cletus enjoyably passes around!

Upstairs, a brief entrapment in a strange classroom of a discontented teacher, where, “I will not kill!” has been written multiple times on the blackboard gives way through a previously concealed passage behind a bookcase that mysteriously slides open on its own!  A spooky cave is soon accessed that exposes the attack of a masked villain shouting, “You’re not scared, are you?  Well, you should be!” More complications arise from a claustrophobic squeeze, a dead end surprise, a-pick-a-door room of uncertainty, a falling ceiling, and a surgical mishap at the office of the aforementioned physician who’s attending to a patient strapped to a chair with her chest ripped open exposing her bloody internal organs!  Avoidance prompts whispered warnings like, “Welcome to your nightmares!” and, “Come to me!” accompanying the course through the “shockingly” tight, cramped spaces of total darkness within the attraction’s one-of-a-kind, tilted maze!  Still to come is a deadly confrontation with a bloody butcher armed with a large machete, an infested tunnel overgrown with gigantic spider webs, and a moving incline-like wall alongside a bottomless pit that without warning begins to narrow the walkway, pushing advancement dangerously close to the edge of the endlessly falling abyss!

Maneuvering through an elaborate graveyard witnesses moving tombstones and the undead being restored to life that’s soon followed by a path-blocking encounter with a female clown announcing, “It’s time to get freaky!” in advance of an aerial assault launched by one of her cohorts concluding the 2022 Haunted Town Hall adventure.

ANALYSIS:  This attraction annually sports some of the best dialogue the industry has to offer as many of the characters have something meaningful to say, which contributes to more intimidating scares!  Haunted Town Hall is also known for their unique and traditional "haunted" concepts, like making use of "secret passages" (the sliding bookcase, for example).  Bottomless pit is similarly memorable, as is the unique, unduplicated tilted maze that remains an OVH favorite!  Smoking crematorium also stands out.  Hillbillies Bobo and Cletus steal the show from an acting perspective, with doctor and acrobatic clown hanging from the rafters also serving up noteworthy performances.

The Haunted Town Hall remains one of the best kept secrets in the business, and an annual TREAT we always look forward to.  This annual highlight of our season never disappoints, and their affordable admission is most appreciated!  By all means schedule a visit to Lafayette, Ohio this Halloween to visit Mayor Joseph's Haunted Town Hall!

There’s also an Escape Room on the premises known as "The Speakeasy" that can be enjoyed for an additional $5 when purchased as part of the combo package.  This customer participation event invites guests to search for clues that can be used to figure out the challenge and ESCAPE before the 5-minute time limit expires!  OVH isn’t giving away the solution, but give it a try!  Many similar experiences are so far-fetched that they’re next to impossible to decipher, but this one makes sense!  We ALMOST had it!!
