RECAP: Cleaver carrying “Skinkrawl” and blood drenched, pitchfork toting "9sycophtz" terrorize the queue line prior to entering the attraction. Once inside the woods, apparitions appear and a warning bell sounds signaling the first of several chainsaw aggressions! The journey is highlighted by various hillbilly interactions and pursuits; skeleton monsters; scarecrows; multiple, well-constructed wooden walkways and tunnels; mazes; and the sound of a loudly beating heart! Flames burst skyward at one point encouraging progression into run-ins with villains carrying blinding, bright lights and honking horns, while others pound noisily and relentlessly on surrounding walls. A brief encounter with friendly, country girl Anastasia soon introduces us to her incestuous brother, who says, “You can have her for $5!”
Deeper into the woods, pig-faced butchers snort and shout, “Here piggy, piggy” while blocking the path ahead as navigation is compromised by redneck wind chimes (cans) dangling from above as the course continues onto a strange encounter with a seemingly possessed contortionist! Avoidance leads through a dark maze that’s compromised by dead ends and other uncertainties before a hidden escape route is discovered that brings about a sudden chainsaw chase-out of Fear Field!
ANALYSIS: Fear Field is a well-constructed outdoor trail complimented by an ample number of scares and surprises. Loud, beating heart can’t be missed and sends intimidating chills down your spine setting an appropriate mood early on. Lighting is well-done and contributes to an unnerving environment. As previously alluded to, design is fantastic incorporating multiple wooden tunnels and mazes into the route, and even a hidden exit! Pig-faced snorters, contortionist, light and horn carrying villains, and Anastasia are among the most memorable performers along the trail, while the elaborately attired "Skinkrawl" and "9sycophtz" start the scares off in the parking lot/queue line area before one even enters the attraction itself!
NOTE: At the owner's request, Fear Field has not been rated! If you’re in the area, be sure to check this one out!
