RECAP In traditional fashion, the outdoor queue line winds its way through a spooky cemetery along the approach to the Haunted Hall.  After taking a year off last season due to Covid-19, Mt. Healthy is back with a vengeance, as various characters including a “tall man” terrorize those waiting to enter, and an old witch waits at the door waiting to announce incoming victims. Stepping inside finds skeletons immediately going on the attack, kicking off this year’s “Monster Party” theme! Classic scenes return, such as the Hellevator (that delivers an unexpected surprise); A Mad Doctor being interrupted from executing an electrocution; and Dracula’s Lair that witnesses The Count springing out of hiding and a victim rising up out of a nearby coffin, just to name a few.  The outside venture of the haunt commences with the sounding of a loud siren that accompanies a severed head popping up out of an adjacent crate, then proceeds into the clutches of a challenging Executioner that finds a nearby victim missing the bottom half of her torso!  Other skirmishes originate courtesy of a vicious fiend wildly swinging someone’s femur (leg bone), Bug Boy, and even a cyclops!  Spider-webbed corridors advance the route to a horn-honking circus clown, then the course continues across a large, spinning floor and through a skeleton picnic area where a smoking body roasts on an outdoor grill, and a tilting bridge must be maneuvered prior to entering a spinning tunnel (vortex) that exits through an alien invasion and a vicious chainsaw assault through a graveyard before the attraction climaxes in its legendary, OVH award winning, dark maze, the escape from which brings about the conclusion of The Mt. Healthy Haunted Hall.

ANALYSISAs previously mentioned, this year’s theme is “Monster Party,” which celebrates the gathering of many different creatures.  The event can annually be counted on to deliver a great deal of Halloween entertainment served up by their unique, home-made scares!  Spinning floor adds a fun and challenging element to an already pleasurable experience, and this year’s Hellevator surprise is totally unexpected!  Smoldering body roasting on grill is also appreciated.  Actors all did the best job possible to deliver outstanding startles and scares, while some interacted with meaningful dialogue.  Alien threw something up against a metal panel making loud noise creating a memorable jump scare.  Chainsaw villain was completely outraged – madly waving the weapon around and hoisting it up over his head, then providing a second chase as patrons exited the maze!  Stilted “Tall Man” also deserves honorable mention for chasing customers around outside the attraction, and even running after them on occasion!  Overall duration depends upon how long it takes to navigate the chicanery inside the maze and eventually find your way out.

Price of admission is a real TREAT by today's standards, costing only $10 ($8 with a canned good donation and only $5 on Sundays with the donation of 2 cans of soup!)  Mt. Healthy always makes the most out of what they have to work with, and can always be counted on for a most enjoyable haunted house experience that NEVER disappoints!   Pay a visit to The Mt. Healthy Haunted Hall and see what a haunted house is supposed to be like!

Note:  This year’s non-scary, lights up, Trick-or-Treat night for kids is Sunday, October 24th from 6 – 6:45 PM, and costs just $5 per child (accompanying adults are free).
