RECAP:   The adult version of Backwoodz Oddities, more commonly known as Hell Night, gets underway in the presence of a screaming girl ordering intruders to, "Get the f*ck out of my candy store!"  Obliging her polite request, takes the course into a kitchen area, where a strange girl offers to show you her "new spoon," which turns out to be an adult toy!  Proudly proclaiming that her uncle gave it to her, she points us in the direction of a closed refrigerator door, and encourages us to open it.  Reluctantly, we comply and discover a secret passage that exposes a group of giggling, female clowns, happily playing with more adult toys, and encouraging visitors, "It's time to open your mouth!"  Declining their invitation advances the path into a room of doll surprises, then onto a pair of disgraceful nuns holding onto an electric drill that's equipped with a pink, revolving dildo instead of a bit!  "It's time to repent your sins!" they exclaim, "Now bend over and take a pounding!"  Tightening our belts, we proceed onward through a rubber room entrapment within an insane asylum, and onto a vibrating, "beef-stick" surprise!

Doors mysteriously open and close on their own resulting in brief group separation in advance of a room where sparks shoot forth, and gas-masked fiends attack from all sides, then it's out through a fog-filled corridor that leads outside into a wooden maze that hides various freaks reaching through the boards, and grabbing at the legs of those trying their best to master the entanglement.  Liberation leads into a duel, chainsaw entrapment containing multiple exit points, one of which loops back around and returns the adventure right back into the midst of the double-team, killer clown assault!  Evasion detours through a 3-D disorientation, and into a pick-a door ensnarement, where all the doors display the number 2, and a wildly spinning floor further complicates progression.  Eventually determining the correct way out guides furtherance across an uneven, tilting bridge, and into a large circus tent full of fun and games, most notably "High Striker," where competitors can lend a helping hand, or in this case a head, to help an overzealous clown test his strength, and ring the bell. Not finding any volunteers, the deceitful prankster makes use of a former contestant's decapitated skull, and giving it a swift "whack" with his sledgehammer, sends it rocketing skyward, ringing the bell in the process, which divulges a previously unseen escape route when oversized building blocks suddenly split in two!  Taking advantage of the opening soon brings about a second captivation that mirrors the first - a duplicate pick-a-door alternative complete with another round of door #2s also terrorized by a maniacal clown armed with a chainsaw, which likewise features a loop directly back into his clutches!

Spider-infested woods are on the horizon, as are cantankerous hillbillies; a green, laser-lit vortex-like simulation; a spooky, old outdoor cathedral-like church, where flames shoot up into the air; and a path-blocking skirmish with a 6 foot tall rabbit asking if you want to touch his "knife," which he's holding like it's his manhood!  (Funny scene).  Up next, the excursion stumbles onto a desolate moonshine still belonging to Pop Tart, who's seen protecting his livelihood with a large axe that he makes use of to encourage advancement into a claustrophobic squeeze that exits into yet another ensemble of chainsaw-packing killer clowns!  Still to come is an encore wooden maze, this one inhabited by a cross-dressing clown, where signs are posted upside down, and various spooks reach and claw through surrounding crevices, grabbing at the legs of passersby ushering in one more final chainsaw chase-out of Backwoodz Oddities - The Last Carnival!

ANALYSISThe adult oriented Hell Night consisted mostly of occasional vulgar language, some light touching, and the use of a few adult toys.  The more intense experience also witnessed a few innuendos (especially from Mr. Rabbit) all designed to entice scares.  Nuns were most memorable with their spinning drill, and chainsaw clowns mean business!  Aforementioned Rabbit was a major contributor as well, and High Striker Clown dominated his scene with arguably the best performance of the night!

Unique spinning floor and pick-a-door segments are appreciated for their clever ingenuity, and remain OVH favorites!  Design is outstanding as several loops are present that at first instill a false sense of security, only to bring you back face-to-face with the rabid chainsaw assailants!  Sliding door/group separation is also commendable, as are hidden passageways and exits.  For whatever reason, Brother Pyro's Church was disappointingly uneventful in comparison to last year, except for a burst of fire, after which we were simply directed to proceed onto the next scene.

Hell Night at Backwoodz Oddities - The Last Carnival certainly lived up to its name, and has become a much anticipated, one-night-only annual event!  Their regular show costs only $10, and features similar scenes and scares, minus the adult themes and without the harsh, ramped-up language.  This unique attraction has a lot to offer - much of which isn't regularly seen elsewhere!  In addition to providing great scares, it's a lot of fun too!  2019 marks their 7th year as "The Best Haunted Attraction in Waverly, Ohio!"

The attraction's primary beneficiary is Southern Ohio Survivors, but they also donate to several charities including animal shelters, local schools, and serve as a primary sponsor of a summer league baseball team.  OVH recommends lending your support by paying them a visit!  You'll be glad you did!
