RECAPSecluded on the outskirts of Clinton County, Ohio The Final Resting Place, also known as The Haunted Junkyard is entered through a weathered, metal fence, where honking horns serve as the attraction's welcome mat, and trunk lids mysteriously open and close on their own, waving you onward.  Up and over an old, wooden ramp into a building with uneven floors exposes short-circuiting fuse boxes, and electrical wiring mishaps that seem to literally explode in your face as you cautiously make your way by!  Multiple school buses are entered and maneuvered through, as the path winds through various buildings filled with bloody dolls and even a CarnEvil circus of ill-tempered clowns!  Headlights flash on and off, loud sirens blare, and a spooky R.V. illuminates some of the largest eyeballs you'll ever see!  Flames and sparks burst forth from the hoods of cars and caged enclosures, while inside a bloody kitchen, a carnivorous chef barbecues the head of his ex-wife on a smoking stove!

Detouring through a oversized sewer pipe encourages an attack by a Mr. Socko-like character, then it's onto a run-in with a strange girl inviting passersby to join her, "Eating a snack," as she munches on her own, dismembered leg!  Continuance isn't much of an option, as an enormous, path-blocking brute complicates progression with no intention of letting anyone get past!  Corpses surge up out of caskets, and bodies project out of wheelchairs as a fish-headed monster goes on the offensive, pounding on walls and repeatedly materializing from multiple, previously unseen locations!  Skeletons hang from crosses in advance of a vicious chainsaw assault that soon escalates into an unexpected double-team ambush that witnesses an outlandish maniac sliding across the roof of a junked vehicle, and hoisting his chainsaw high up over his head beginning a relentless chase through a skid-like maze, and throughout the remaining wreckage!  Seeking shelter on board another school bus discovers a seemingly lost boy seated in the back of the bus, who suddenly leaps to his feet, clutching a running drill!  Quickly disembarking corrals escape in the midst of a group of possessed  children armed with chainsaws and power tools that give chase out of The Haunted Junkyard!

ANALYSIS:  Characterized by flashing lights, honking horns, wailing sirens, and the trunks and hoods of junked cars opening and closing on their own, The Final Resting Place certainly makes the most of its theme!  Characters do an admirable job delivering the best scares possible.  Path-blocking brute, fish-head, clowns, and girl eating her own leg are among the most memorable.  Chainsaw lunatics giving pursuit through the wooden maze did a fabulous job, earning recognition as the top actors of the night!  Presence of undersized performers is typically not good, but in this case, they're utilized to perfection, gathering them together in a group for a brief, threatening entrapment prior to exiting the attraction.

Now in it's 7th season, The Haunted Junkyard is a pleasant throwback to the affordable, enjoyable haunts of years gone by, and a reminder that you don't have to invest in a lot of high-tech props to produce quality, seasonal scares!  The Final Resting Place is a lot of fun to visit, and the cost of admission can't be beat at only $10!  There's also a Lights Out attraction and Grandma Millie's "Escape Room" that can be enjoyed for an additional $5 each.  For some good, old-fashioned Halloween entertainment, pay a visit to The Final Resting Place Haunted Junkyard!
