Horror movie conventions are a staple within the Midwestern US, as thousands of horror fans flock the convention centers of hotels to meet their favorite movie stars.  Days of the Dead will not let fans down, as a promising lineup of not only horror genre stars will be appearing, but cult and music celebrities will be on hand as well to appeal to the masses.  Festivities begin Thursday night at the Melody Inn at 8:30 PM with a concert featuring Reggie Bannister (Phantasm series, Bubba Ho-Tep ), First Jason (Ari Lehman from Friday the 13th’s band), and Black Sunday.  The weekend progresses with convention halls opening at 6 PM to 11 PM Friday, 11 AM to 7 PM Saturday, and 11 AM to 6 PM Sunday.  Patrons are allowed to enter an hour early with purchase of a VIP pass.

Days of the Dead boasts major film screenings (including Fangoria Filmfest and premiere of the I Am Nancy documentary presented by Heather Langenkamp of the Nightmare on Elm Street series), a stand-up comedy routine Friday evening by WWE Superstar Roddy Pipper (They Live), an all access VIP gala Saturday night, informative discussion panels with the stars, and even a costume contest judged by an all celebrity panel.  A Plethora of vendors will likewise be on hand selling everything from memorabilia to genre themed artwork in a 9,400 sq ft exhibit hall.  Various SFX artists, slasher impersonators, authors, horror hosts, prop replica display handlers, and media outlets will also be covering the premiere of “A New Breed of Horror Convention.”

Scheduled celebrities include standouts:  Ace Frehley (guitarist for legendary rock band KISS), Edward Furlong (Terminator 2, Pet Semetary 2),  Gary Busey (Predator 2, Silver Bullet), Jake Busey (The Frighteners, Starship Troopers), Linnea Quigley (Night of the Demons, Return of the Living Dead),  Andrew Bryniaski (Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), Derek Mears (Friday the 13th, Predators) and Brian Steele (Predators, Hellboy I & II).  Tom Sizemore (Natural Born Killers, Saving Private Ryan) has just been added to the all-star line-up.  Also in attendance will be cult B-movie stars such as: Nivek Ogre (Repo: The Genetic Opera, vocalist from Skinny Puppy), Camille Keaton (I Spit on Your Grave), PJ Soles (Halloween, Carrie), William Katt (House, Carrie), Jacob Reynolds (Gummo), J LaRose (Insidious, Saw series), Jim O’Rear (The Deepening, Day of the Dead), Brad Loree (Halloween Resurrection, New Moon), and many more!

Advance tickets can still be purchased online through Ticketleap. The weekend pass costs $40 with daily passes available for $20.  $8 grants access to Thursday’s pre-party concert $8, VIP passes were $199 but are unfortunately sold out.  Tickets will also be available at the door but jump $10 in price.  Hotel accomodations at the Wyndham can be reserved at the special discounted price of $99.  For more information please check out the Days of the Dead website at http://www.daysofthedead.net.  All email inquiries may be submitted to info@daysofthedead.net
